Abstract/Contents:Evaluates the use of recycled waters for golf course irrigation. An increasing number of golf courses worldwide use recycled municipal water for irrigation. Chemical water analysis and periodic monitoring are necessary due to high concentrations of dissolved salts that are potentailly toxic to turfgrasses. There are many important factors involved in recycled irrigation water quality evaluation, including salinity, sodium content, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), the interaction of salinity and SAR, bicarbonate and carbonate, pH (hydrogen ion activity), chloride, chlorine, boron, nutrients, and suspended solids. Advises that while there are very few recycled water sources that are absolutely unsuitable for turfgrass irrigation, recycled water quality must still be analyzed on an individual basis.
