Abstract/Contents:Disscusses the importance of monitoring nitrogen in water in order to prevent algae growth. Describes the importance of oxygen in water to help fish and other living species survive in their natural habitat. Discusses the relationship between the agronomists and the USGA Green Section and their plan to help protect the Long Island waters. Describes the majority of the golf courses accepting the plan initiated by the USGA Green Section. Addresses how levels of chemicals in drinking water were 20 times the safe drinking water standard and observations had suggested that due to the unsafe drinking water, nearly 700 geese had died. Describes a plan created by the EPA which set aside 330 million dollars to help clean up and preserve the Peconic Bay.
