Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Play Golf America, "the intiative developed by the PGA [Professional Golfers' Association] of America and supported by the USGA [United States Golf Association] to increase participation in the game among adults and families." Explains that "the program's goals are to increase play among those who aren't playing as much as they once did, and to bring back those who have stopped playing and to attract new players to the game." Reports that "in 2004, the PGA reported that 1.6 million golfers participated in group outings, leagues and other activities conducted under the program's banner...in 2005, approximately 4,800 facilities have participated in Play Golf America programs, compared with 3,900 in 2004." Mentions the PGA Certified Professional Program (CPP). States that "PGA CPP was developed at a cost of more than $1.5 million to give PGA Professionals the tools through which they can 'improve their golf management skills to stay ahead of the increasing demands of the industry.'" |
