| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the results of the 2002 National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) National Bermudagrass Test and the 2003 NTEP National Zoysiagrass Test. Lists the best commercially available bermudagrass and zoysiagrass performers from these two years. Suggests that "seeded bermudagrasses and vegetative zoysiagrasses were the quickest to recover, but the differences were not as clear-cut for zoysiagrasses." Advises that "characteristics other than recovery time are important and should be considered when selecting a variety." Concludes that "turf characteristics such as cold tolerance, disease resistance, genetic color, leaf texture and overall quality are also important and should be considered in relation to the local environment, management intensity and user expectations." |
