| Abstract/Contents: | Features the process in which grass seeds acquire a pedigree, providing photographs to illustrate the process. Explains that seeds are first placed in the grass hybridization house and then isolated in the fields where the species will be studied. Indicates that "plants representing the best types are removed to glasshouses for isolation....[and] the seed [that is] harvested from these plants is sown," adding that further breeding may occur. States that if the field trials are satisfactory, "an acre is sown for seed production." Concludes that "high seed yields from grasses selected and bred for leafiness...[are] being obtained." |
