| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the various expenses that make up a golf course budget and different ways in which costs can be lowered during times of economic hardship. States that flags and tee markers can be stored during the night and set back up in the morning to prevent vandalism. Provides suggestions on ways to reduce labor costs, including investing in more efficient equipment and reducing the number of times that mowing is done during the week. Notes that a reduction in the amount of time it takes to do a routine task through the use of more efficient equipment can save a significant amount of money. States that removing or pruning trees can lower costs by allowing more sunlight to reach the greens, reducing the amount of fungicide needed. Suggests that communication with club members is important as it is necessary to explain changes in operations and maintenance in order to keep club members satisfied. |
