| Abstract/Contents: | Potassium uptake by perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) grown in 21 soils in pots was compared with 30 indices of soil K; nonexchangeable K released by plants was compared with 3 soil K indices. Release of nonexchangeable K varied between 1.5 and 33.0 mg K/100 g soil, and was poorly correlated with soil exchangeable K, but more closely correlated with HNO3- and resin-extractable K. Uptake of K ranged from 6.8 to 42.7 mg K/100 g soil, and was most closely correlated with the following soil K indices: ARo X BCo, K-resin C, exchangeable K, ARo X PBC, K-resin A(T), K-resin B. |
