| Abstract/Contents: | "The study was located on a Sciota Country Club fairway in Columbus, OH. Insectisides were applied on 6 Aug to plots 4 X 8 ft arranged in a RCB, replicated 4 times with the replicates separated by 3 ft. Spray treatments were applied using a CO² (CO₂) sprayer with TeeJet ™ 8006VS nozzles at 26 psi pressure that delivered a volume of 1.0 gal /1000 ft2 (ft₂). Sprays were not irrigated for about 24 hr after application. Environmental conditions at time of treatment were as follows. Turf; level, dense, ½-inch height, surface dry. Thatch: 1/8 to 1/2-inch, moist, dense. Soil: moist, 87°F at 1.0 inch, 85°F at 3.0 inch, clay loam. Weather: clear, 87°F, 0-3 mph wind. Evaluation on 12 Aug (6 DAT) was based on the number of BCW and SWW larvae flushed to the surface in a 1.0 yd₂ area, two per plot, using a soap irritant drench of 15 ml Joy™ dishwashing detergent on 2.0 gal water. All treatments were equally effective in significantly reducing BCW and SWW population densities 6 DAT below that in the untreated check." |
