Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted on a fairway at Cambell's Scottish Highlands Golf Course, Salem, NH. Fairways were mowed at 0.875 inch ht. All treatments were applied on 12 May to 49-ft² plots, replicated five times, in a RCB design. Treatments were timed to initial adult emergence. Treatments were applied using a 7-ft boom on a 2-wheel, bicycle-type CO₂ sprayer. The boom was equipped with four 8005 fan-type nozzles, fitted with 50 mesh screens. The water and insecticide mix was delivered 2 gal/1000 ft² at 40 psi. All treatments were irrigated with 0.1 inch of water within 4 h of application. Weather conditions at the time of application were as follows: sky, clear; wind, moderate breeze; air temp, 61.3°F. Soil conditions were as follows : surface temp, 63.9°F; at 1-inch depth, 60.3°F; at 2-inch depth, 57.7°F; texture, sandy loam, sand, 73%, silt, 19%; clay, 8%; moisture, 23.9%; organic matter, 6.7% thatch, 0.0625 inch; pH, 7.1. Each plot was rated in 2 ft² samples on 14 Jul for live BTA larvae. All treatments performed well. No phytotoxicity was observed." |
