Honor the Past and Help Serve the Future With Your Donations!

There are still a number of gaps in the physical and online Collections that need to be filled. It is through the cooperation of those interested in turfgrass research and management that TIC continues to receive back issues, new titles, and is kept on the mailing lists for the latest volumes or editions.

Do you have printed materials relating to turf culture that need a new, public, home? Can you help contribute to the legacy of great turf agronomists? Are you interested in supporting a library where scientists, professionals, scholars, and students have access to the great tradition of reporting in turf science? If so, please consider donating your materials to the Turfgrass Information Center, where the items may be placed in either the O.J. Noer Memorial Turfgrass Collection or the James B Beard Turfgrass Library Collection. Publishers, here is more information on providing online access to your materials through TGIF.

bookplateA bookplate will be affixed inside the front cover of each item retained for the Noer Collection or for the Beard Collection with the name of the donor. TGIF database records will then be created for materials as they are processed, making them "once again known" to the turfgrass community.

Items donated to the Collections are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. The MSU Libraries Development Office can assist you  for further information about gifts that will be claimed for tax purposes and handles all Gift in Kind forms. We reserve the right to dispose of out-of-scope, beyond-affordable preservation, or excessive duplicate items.

The following are partial listings of materials currently needed to further "complete" the Turfgrass Information Center's holdings. Please note that these listings are incomplete and constantly changing, therefore, what you have to donate may not be listed - but this does not mean that we do not want it! A wide variety of information "types" are represented in the TGIF database, and while the bulk of the databases consists of the material types listed below, turfgrass resources in various other formats may be needed as donations. Please refer all questions about donations to Andrew Lundeen. Thank you, your continued support in building the Collections is greatly appreciated!

Types of Needed Materials

Articles, Books, Reports, Booklets, etc.:

Whole Issues of Magazines, Journals, and other Periodicals (Serials)

We are still looking for a variety of issues to complete serial-runs in our collections, however, we are currently not looking for additional copies of some highly-circulated titles, including: Golf Course Management, USGA Green Section Record, Grounds Maintenance, & the Proceedings of the Michigan Turfgrass Conference.

Theses and Dissertations

Since it is the intention of the Turfgrass Information Center (TIC) to collect the turfgrass literature at an "exhaustive level", we do wish to acquire copies of all theses and dissertations written in turf science, regardless of institutional affiliation. We are hopeful that committees and advisors will encourage degree candidates to make a copy directly available to TIC so that it may be promptly processed into the TGIF database, and thus be more rapidly "made known" to the research community. If you have copies of your own or others' theses/dissertations, please be sure to send one to us, no matter when the degree(s) were completed. We are also interested in theses and dissertations from degrees outside of direct turfgrass management programs, but whose focus relates to turfgrass or turfgrass management - for example, sociology dissertations covering the home lawn as a subject of study.

To provide full-text access to your work, see our copyright permissions form for theses and dissertations.
