Abstract/Contents:Reports that Kentucky bluegrass is the most popular grass species within the United States for "multiple turf applications". States that in order to choose the appropriate Kentucky bluegrass "one needs to match the characteristics of a variety with the conditions of use and even the manager's ability to manage turf." Addresses disease resistance and low mowing heights and describes their impact on turf varieties. Contrasts various homeowner turf and athletic field requirements and describes how bluegrass varieties with high absorption rates of nutrients will "help eliminate the need for excessive amounts of fertilizer for maintaining high quality turf and in turn would help conserve our fertilizer resources."
