| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses integrated pest management (IPM), stating that "one of the key elements...is monitoring turf for signs of problems." Describes the two stages of monitoring: a general visual inspection and determining which pest might be present. Also mentions looking for plant phenological relationships. Describes phenology as "the study of the developmental stages of an organism over time." Lists soil sampling, flushes, flotation, adult insect traps, and visual inspection as different insect monitoring techniques. Concludes that "with the specific techniqes described...you should be able to accurately monitor for all the turf insect pests you will encounter on your golf course and be better equipped to make the appropriate pest management decisions." |
