Abstract/Contents:Discusses a study designed to: "1) determine which species of Bipolaris, Curvularia and other fungi inhabit two cultivars of ultradwarf bermudagrass greens in Florida, and 2) record the incidence of these fungi in the different areas of the state throughout the year on the leaves, stolons, and roots." Describes the conditions of the experiment stating that "a two-year ecological survey of fungi associated with two ultradwarf bermudagrass cultivars was conducted from January 2003 to May 2004. Samples were collected from eight golf course greens located in 4 geographical regions of Florida, USA...with each region having a Floradwarf and Tifeagle cultivar." Reports that "twenty one different species of fungi and one actinomycete were recovered from the two ultradwarf cultivars during the two-year survey, including Alternaria sp., Bipolaris cynodontis, Bipolaris hawaiiensis, Codinaea sp., Choanephora sp., Curvularia lunata, Curvularia geniculata, Cylindrocarpon sp., Epicoccum sp., Fusarium spp., Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis, Hansforida sp., Leptosphaerulina trifolii, Myrothecium leucotrichum, Pestalotia sp., Penicillium sp., Pythium sp. Robillarda phragmites, Ramicloridium subulatum, Rhizoctonia zeae and a Streptomyces species." Also lists Curvularia lunata, Bipolaris cynodontis, Fusarium spp., Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis, Leptosphaerulina trifolii, IMyrothecium leucotricum, Pythium and Rhizoctonica zea as "the casual agents of disease of disorders of Cynodon dactylon in Florida."
