Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to "examine the effect of iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium treatments for control of existing [Romulea rosea] plants and control soil corm poductions." Describes the conditions of the experiment, stating that "all treatments were applied with 417 L water per hectare, with the non-ionic surfactant Genapol at 0.3% V/V. The herbicide treatments were an iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium product containing 10% active ingredient in a water dispersible granule formulation. The rates of active ingredient were 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 15 g.a.i./ha." Results include that "at 12 [Months After Treatment] MAT the plot receiving the lowest herbicide rate increased in weed density and was not signficantly different from the untreated control. The weed density was in the other herbicide treatments was still significantly different from the untreated control, but not different from each other. At 18 MAT the total fresh weight of corms decreased with increasing herbicide rate." Concludes that "iodosulfruron is effective for the control of R. rosea in the season of application."
