Abstract/Contents:Briefly discusses golf ball speed and distance. States that "by 1923, the USGA [United States Golf Association] and The R&A [Royal and Ancient] were concerned with how far the golf ball was traveling...Relying more on what was suspected to be true than what was known to be true, a decision was made in 1930 to slow the ball down and lessen distance." Reports that in September 1931 "the ball manufacturers asked the USGA to announce that there will be no change in specifications for 1932. It is agreed that notice will be given in April 1932 that a heavier ball of the same size will become standard."
