Abstract/Contents:Discusses the selection of plants for a low-allergy landscape and lists reason for low-allegy landscapes. States that the main concerns of creating healthy landscapes are "producing as little allergenic pollen as possible [and] generating very few allergenic mold spores." Discusses the rating system for Ogren Plant-Allergy Scale (OPALS): plants that produce zero pollen rank the best at 1 and plants that produce highly allergenic pollen and have long bloom periods are ranked the worst at 9 or 10. Provides strategies to reduce allergenic mold spores. Lists tree species that received a high OPALS rating and species that received a low OPALS rating.
