Abstract/Contents:States that "Dollar Spot is the most common turfgrass disease in North America, except in western Canada and the Pacific Northwest." Mentions dollar spot incidence in British Columbia, Canada. States that "insuffiecient nitrogen fertilizer can increase the incidence and severity of Dollar Spot infections." Explains that "Dollar Spot is a disease caused by the fungal pathogen, Sclerotinia homeocarpa and typically appears as small, circular, sunken, straw-coloured patches of turf." Dissuses conditions that may be favorable to dollar spot, stating that "dollar spot typically appears after winter when nine to ten days occur consecutively with mean air tempuratures of >16° C [celsius]." Breifly mentions how the disease is spread. Informs that "in order to prevent this disease from becoming a serious problem, incolum levels must be kept to a minimum." Suggests that "fungicides applied after infection should be applied at the curative rates that are higher than the preventative rates."
