| Abstract/Contents: | Briefly discusses two trials of sodium fluosilicate to determine its effectiveness as an herbicide and an herbicide activator. States that "crabgrass was used to determine the effect on foliage" from DN 289 (a salt of dinitro-osec butyl phenol) and DN 289 mixed with sodium fluosilicate. Results show that the crabgrass showed "only slight injury" when treated with DN 289 alone and was killed when DN 289 was mixed with sodium fluosilicate. Also states that "sodium fluosilicate was...found to be an excellent crabgrass killer by itself." Results show that when "a saturated solution" was used as a lawn spray, crabgrass was killed "without appreciable injury to bluegrass." |
