Abstract/Contents:Summer decline, the thinning or dying of bentgrass in late summer or early fall, involves more than Pythium root rot or Black layer. Information provided on causes includes: saturation, lack of oxygen, extreme heat, and periods of drought. Includes tips on recovery such as fertilization, salt content, fungicides, and aerification. Recommends Koban in a pythium control program to help control pythium root rot, which seems to work best when applied in 5 gallons of water per 1000 sq.ft. and not watered in. Fore has given some control and helps control algae and brown patch which are often associated with the problem.
