| Question: | "We are considering spraying our course with selective weedkiller this year. The total area to be treated is approximately 80 acres. Would it be best in the long run to buy our own sprayer or have the work done by contract?" |

| Answer/Response: | "On balance we think you should have your own sprayer because: 1. The spraying could then be done in your own time and repeated whenever necessary. 2. You would be able to choose the most suitable weather conditions in which to carry out the treatment, and 3. The work could be arranged to fit in with your programme of general work. If you do your own spraying you should avoid drift on to other property (it might pay you to insure against risk of damage to crops). In carrying out the spraying the right amount of selective weedkiller per acre should be applied, the volume of water used being of secondary importance. The spraying should be done evenly and over-lapping should be avoided." |
