Question:"Do we need any special preparation or dressing of the greens before the onset of frosty weather? The greens are rather soft, should they be rolled?"
Answer/Response:"It is unnecessary to do anything special to your greens before frosty weather comes. They certainly should not be covered as a form of frost protection as this would be detrimental. The grass is very hardy and quite severe frosts will not kill it. Heavy rolling of golf greens is unnecessary and none should be done at this time. A light rolling in the spring would be desirable when the soil begins to dry up."
