Question:"It is understood that a harrow would be of value on our playing field. It is said that certain types of harrow can be used for different purposes. We would appreciate your observations and comments."
Answer/Response:"You would find a harrow useful on the playing field. A grassland type with 2 to 3 in. spikes on one side and flat on the other would be suitable. You should use the harrow spikes lowermost in the spring before putting on your fertilizer. It will tear out roughage and dead foliage and let air into the sole of the turf. The flat side of the harrow could be used with advantage at any time during the summer and in the winter it would help to maintain a playing surface."
