| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses yorkshire fog and perennial ryegrass as grasses that have the potential to "adversely affect presentation and playing quality" of golf greens. Details control methods of both grasses, including wear, pin placement, chemcial, sward density, grass growth regulators, chemical removal, and physical removal. Concludes that "as we move towards golf course management where sustainability is becoming more and more important, using a relatively high maintenance grass such as perennial ryegrass e.g. increased mowing, verticutting and fertiliser [fertilizer] application, seems perverse and everybody involved in golf course management should be looking towards a higher fine grass content and its relationship with sustainability." |
