| Answer/Response: | "It is difficult to give a realistic estimate for annual cost of materials as the varying seasons will affect the requirements. The price of the materials also varies. Below we give you an idea of the cost of the treatments we advised and include a few items where the cost will depend on the amount of work you decide to do. Fertilizers for 18 greens (area 600 sq. yd.) .. .. .. .. 42 Fertilizers for approaches and tees .. .. .. .. .. 14 Granular fertilizer for fairways, assuming 1/3 of 20 acres is treated .. 140 One application of selective weedkiller to greens, tees and approaches 4 One application of selective weedkiller to, say, 20 acres of fairway .. 25 Lead arsenate for earthworm control to three greens .. .. .. 30 One application of fungicide to 18 greens .. .. .. .. 9 Total .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 264 We suggest the sum £25 to £30 be set aside each year to cover repeat applications of fungicide and selective weedkiller when and if necessary." |
