Question:"One of our engineers reports that the grass sown on the verges alongside M1 will only require cutting once in three years. We recall you saying that there were still difficulties with slow growing grasses but your comments on the above would be of value."
Answer/Response:"We do not know which grass was sown on the verges of M1 but we can say that we know of no grasses which only require cutting once every three years. Grass seed mixtures used in establishing the roadside verges on such as the A1 by-pass roads are a blend of some common agricultural species together with some fescue, bent and wild white clover."
