| Question: | "Could you please advise on the trouble as seen on the enclosed sample. The bare patches were to be seeded this spring but during the past few months a "mould" developed." |

| Answer/Response: | "We have incubated the specimen to see if any fungal growth developed. We have found little but the samples quickly became covered with a green filamentous alga. It seems that renovation with seed coupled with the application of a compound fertilizer would put the matter right. Before renovation, however, you could apply ¼ oz. sulphate of iron in ½ gal. of water per sq. yd. or 1 oz. of copper sulphate in 25 gal. of water to 100 sq. yd. to control the alga." |
