| Question: | "We are sending three samples of soil for your inspection. The club has been offered a quantity of each of them but before accepting any we should like your advice." |

| Answer/Response: | "Examination of the soil samples shows that physically there is little to choose between them. They may all be classified as sandy silts and have a low content of silty clay in small lumps. Any of these soils can be used for top dressing purposes but it would be necessary to mix into them a quantity of fine peat and gritty sand, thus: 3 parts fine peat, 3 parts gritty sand, 4 parts screened soil should make a satisfactory mixture." |
