Question:"Our drought affected fairways were treated as advised and the fertilizer recommended was applied when the rain came. The grass has now improved but remains thin and weed is very noticeable. Consideration is being given to applying a further fertilizer and we wonder about weed control."
Answer/Response:"A further fertilizer dressing would be beneficial on your poor fairways. The application should be made four to six weeks after the first one and we suggest a mixture of organic and inorganic nitrogen, i.e. 200 kilos sulphate of ammonia per hectare, 100 kilos hoof and horn meal per hectare. Regarding selective weed control we think this would be best left until the grass further improves."
