| Question: | "We enclose some toadstools taken from our bowling green. Literally hundreds of these have appeared during the past few days and we should be grateful if you could advise us if it is necessary to carry out any treatment." |

| Answer/Response: | "The toadstools which you have sent have been examined by our plant pathologist who reports that they are from a saprophyic fungus and probably a species of Hygrophorus. These toadstools will do no harm to your bowling green and corrective treatment is not necessary. We suggest, however that for appearance sake you should switch the toadstools off the bowling green each morning." |
