| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the process of hiring a qualified superintendent stating that "every successful formula for hiring a professional staff member begins with an understanding of how that person contributes to the overall operations of the facility." Suggests writing a job description and developing a salary and benefits package. Details the process of attracting candidates to the job and states that "the goal is to write an advertisement that will interest candidates with credentials that match the position's responsibilities." Suggests running the job posting "with the local and national superintendent associations...[and] circulate the information among individuals who can share it with interested parties." Also discusses how to narrow the applicant field by selecting resumes based on objective selection criteria, including information that "pertain[s] to the superintendents profession." Details the interview process, suggesting that "each final candidate should be invited to tour the property before meeting with the selection committee." Concludes that "a well-conceived hiring process takes considerable time and effort.
