Question:"A housing scheme has been planned to include the land which our current sports field occupies and we have been offered substantial compensation for this ground. We have now found a possible site which over the next three years could be developed for the various sports facilities and would be pleased if you could offer us advice on the establishment of soccer, rugby and cricket pitches."
Answer/Response:"We are pleased to have such an enquiry at a suitably early state so that there is time to establish the proposed new area before it is brought into play. We are sure we can be of help to you since we have many years of experience in playing field construction. It would be necessary for you to become members here and I enclose a leaflet which incorporates an application from which you may care to complete. On the basis of this we will quote you a basic subscription which covers you for postal advice, receipt of publications, etc. We would then suggest that you ask us to make a preliminary site visit to discuss with you the site's possibilities relative to your requirements in a general way - a kind of feasibility study - and for this we would quote you a fee when we know your requirements in a little more detail. We would submit a report following this visit and no doubt you would then be able to make up your minds how you wanted to proceed. We could act as consultant to your own architect or engineer or alternatively (and preferably) we ourselves could act as consultant-in-charge and I enclose sheets showing how we work for both schemes."
