| Question: | "The grass cover on our pitch is generally thin and only just showing signs of recovery after the long period of dry weather this summer. Is there anything we can do to aid recovery of the grass?" |

| Answer/Response: | "This problem has been quite common this year but now that the soil is becoming moist once again good grass growth may be encouraged by providing plenty of aeration together with a little fertilizer treatment. We suggest that you make one or two passes with the tractor-mounted spiker before applying a granular fertilizer of analysis:- 10% nitrogen, 15% phosphate, 10% potash or similar at the rate of 125-190 kg/ha (1-1 ½ cwt./acre). We do not normally recommend the application of fertilizer as late as this but the exceptional summer weather has made special measure necessary. This fertilizer dressing should obviously be applied at the earliest opportunity." |
