| Question: | "We sprayed the second green twice during October with a mercurial fungicide and at present there does not appear to be any improvement. I shall be grateful to receive your comments and any recommendations." |

| Answer/Response: | "If the disease is still active the reason is that the fungicide applications have not been sufficiently frequent. Persistence of fungicidal effect is largely determined by the amount of rainfall, and in a wet period the only answer is to repeat the fungicide applications at closer intervals, i.e., 7-10 days until full control is achieved. On the other hand, at this time of year, although the fungicide checks' the disease, recovery of the sward is slow, since there is less growth to aid the filling in of the scars. The value of preventive treatments as opposed to curative treatment for Fusarium patch control at this time of year cannot be emphasised too strongly." |
