Abstract/Contents:Suggests potential methods of predicting turf performance, stating that "it depends upon two related factors that [one] already [incorporates] into much of [one's] planning and decision-making: the weather and the effect that weather has on turfgrass stress." Describes the turf-growth potential model, stating that it can be used to "help educate golfers and grounds managers, to provide a scientific basis for decisions, and to predict the performance of different turf types when exposed to different climates and different overseeding and transition practices." Contrasts cool- and warm-season turf varieties and discusses possible times during the year to receive the best turf-growth potential. Offers potential ways to reverse growth potential downslope, suggests the ideal overseeding environment, and possible ways of determining which turf to use in specific locations.
