Question:"I enclose a piece of turf which appears to be affected by some disease. My lawn has several large brown patches which have become very apparent since the snow cleared."
Answer/Response:"The lawn appears to be affected by a fairly unusual fungus called Typhula itoana. It is rarely found in this country but is associated with very cold weather and snow cover, being common in Scandinavia. The method of control is the same as for Fusarium patch disease, namely treatment with a suitable fungicide preferably of the mercurial type."
