Abstract/Contents:Describes a recovery program developed by superintendent Jerry Dearie and a group of consultants of Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. States that "heavily thatched sod...has been choking the turf on the South Course's bentgrass greens since it was laid during a course renovation in late 2001." Details the plan, stating that "it will take two to three years before the thatch is broken down to acceptable levels...[and] includes converting bentgrass greens to Poa annua." Also states that "the changes aren't limited to the greens. The plan also calls for changes to fairways, roughs and other areas."
