Abstract/Contents:States that "because of North Carolina's geographic location, the state is in the transition zone where both cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species are used for lawn." Discusses brown patch disease, "the most severe and frequently occurring disease on tall fescue lawns in North Carolina." Also indentifies gray leaf spot disease as "an increasingly severe disease for turfgrasses in the U.S. [United States]." Describes two potential means of delivering "DNA into a plant species: 'gene gun' and Agrobacterium." Concludes that "gamma irradiation is a powerful breeding tool that has been used formany years to create mutations for plant breeding."
