| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a "preliminary study of landscape water use in planned unit developments" and subsequent research collected "over an 8-1/2 month period encompassing the irrigation season" in Novato, California. States that "the purpose of the research project was to compare, on a monthly basis over the entire irrigation season, outside water use and landscape labor, fertilizer, fuel and herbicide use in traditional vs. water conserving projects." Describes the sample, stating that "the sample consisted of seven planned unit developments, all with mature landscapes and consisting of 548 dwelling units." States that "to qualify as a water conserving project, a project had to have less than 500 sq ft [square feet] per dwelling and meet certain other criteria." |
