Abstract/Contents: | "Field studies with low rates of glyphosate (N-(phosphono-methyl) glycine) have resulted in significant plant growth suppression of bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge). Rates of 0.16 to 0.22 kg a.e./ha applied one to two weeks after an initial mowing or full bahiagrass greenup achieved 80-95% seedhead inhibition and 30-45% vegetative suppression for a period of 45 to 50 days. Sequential applications of 0.05 to 0.11 kg a.e./ha applied 45 days after primary application further extended suppression for 90 to 120 days. Full season plant growth suppression, without phytotoxicity, is the objective in order to supplant mechanical mowing and relatively high operating expenses in groves, embankments, and roadsides." |
