Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a report released April 24, 2004, "alleging that 2,4-D amine is again 'persuasively linked to cancer, neurological impairment, and reproductive problems.'" Suggests that the report "is a rehash of earlier claims made in a report of the Ontario College of Family Physicians on the herbicide 2,4-D" and that "Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) risk assesment team...rejected that report's findings after an exhaustive 2,4-D reassessment process in February 2005." Suggests that "[the green industry's] objectives regarding public safety and protection of the environment are the same as the well-intentioned and anti-pesticide activists who continue to reject Health Canada's findings and continue to oppose the uses of registered herbicides to combat adverse invasive plant infestations." |
