| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program to eliminate harmful pests on a golf course, including mosquitoes, black flies, yellow jackets and honeybees, cockroaches, and rodents. Suggests working with a pest management professional to ensure "proper use of landscape"; "monitoring of pest activity"; "immediate clean up of spills"; "removal of garbage"; and "circulation of standing water." Concludes that "eliminating factors that attract pests will help prevent pest problems before they start. With the many variables involved in golf course pest management, it is a good idea to constult a pest control expert. A pest control professional can apply knowledge of pest biology and behaviour [behavior] to concentrate on preventing problems, so golfers can concentrate on making that hole in one." |
