Abstract/Contents:Profiles Necrotic Ring Spot (NRS) as "a serious perennial disease of Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis)." Describes the history of the fungus that causes NRS, Leptosphaeria korrae and discusses its life cycle. States that "control recommendations for Necrotic Ring Spot include encouraging deep rooting; promoting growth in spring and fall, but reducing summer succulence; overseeding or resodding with resistant cultivars; and controlling thatch to promote vigour." Concludes that "while there is some research indicating certain Kentucky bluegrass cultivars have less susceptibility to this disease, none have been found with full resistance."
