Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that "the interpretation of data can often be biased toward whatever you are trying to prove." Examines this idea in relationship to recent global warming research. Warns that the public is "not told that world temperature data is biased toward heavily urbanized areas, which have a localized heat increase due to the effects of more concrete, paving and buildings (and less turf and trees). While temperatures in New York City have indeed risen since 1930...in the state capital of Albany, temperatures have actually dropped by almost a full degree Fahrenheit during the same time span." |
