| Abstract/Contents: | Explains that "despite construction delays and concerns emanating from city hall about whether a course being built in Fresno, [California], will be ready for its inaugural [Professional Golfers Association (PGA)] Tour event next fall, principals involved with the project insist the course at Running Horse Golf and Country Club will be ready with time to spare." States that "Running Horse, a private, 220-acre Jack Nicklaus-Jack Nicklaus II design, is scheduled to be the site of the PGA Tour's Running Horse Golf Championship" on October 25-28, 2007." Mentions that PGA Tour officials "are still holding out great hope that Running Horse will be ready, but there comes a time that good intentions outrun the laws of physics...it still takes a certain amount of time for grass to grow, concrete to cure and all those things. The big deal is not so much the fairways, but the greens." Also states that officials "will develop a back-up plan and identify a venue in the event the golf course is not ready to hold the PGA Tour event." Concludes that "in Running Horse's favor is the generous growing season that supports the region's reputation as one of the world's preeminent agricultural regions." |
