Abstract/Contents:Defines a plant growth regulator (PGR) as "an organic compound, natural or synthetic, which when applied in small amounts results in a change in turf growth and development." States that "the desired change in turf growth and development could include..improved colour [color]"; "increased density"; "more carbohydrate reserves"; and "better rooting." Discusses the classification of PGRs and the use of PGRs in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. Concludes that "superintendents have embraced the benefits of PGR use, and thereby, have contributed positively to the health of turf and the esthetics and playability of golf courses."
