Abstract/Contents:Winter overseeding dates can vary as much as 4 to 6 weeks due to climatic differences associated with latitude and shift 1 to 3 weeks from season to season variations. Three year's of experiments at the Texas A&M University Turfgrass Field Laboratory were conducted to determine the optimum soil temperature for winter overseeding perennial ryegrass into bermudagrass. Results for various temperatures and soil depths are discussed. The preferred winter overseeding dates for perennial ryegrass would be when the soil temperature at a 4-in. depth is between 72 F and 78 F.
