| Abstract/Contents: | "Chlordane at 4 rates from 1.1 to 9.0 kg AI/ha and dieldrin at 4 rates from 0.6 to 3.4 kg AI/ha were applied once, in 1968, to established turf in Kentucky and examined annually thereafter for populations of larvae of Popillia japonica Newm. Effective control was obtained for 5 seasons with chlordane at 4.5 kg/ha and with dieldrin at 0.6 kg/ha. Virtually 100% elimination of grubs was obtained for 8 seasons with 9.0 kg chlordane/ha and 2.2 kg dieldrin/ha. Soil residue analyses during the last 4 years showed a positive correlation with treatment rate on the basis of a 4-year mean but with considerable variations on a year-to-year basis." |
