Abstract/Contents:Suggests that the 2007 Golf Industry Show (GIS) "has the potential to be the best yet." States that "for the first time since Harry Truman occupied the White House, more golf courses closed than opened in 2006...From 1941 to 1945 there was a net loss of 401 golf courses." Explains that "the glut of golf facilities coupled with outside influences and time constraints have created a fickle golf consumer who can afford to be choosy. To woo customers...golf facilities will have to concentrate on improving the overall golf experience." Also states that "the expanded Golf Industry Show, which includes superintendents, architects, owners, managers and builders, not to mention research experts, appears to be a one-stop shopping hub for learning how to be successful." Concludes that "like it or not, owners, managers, superintendents and pros must cooperate with each other to be successful [in 2007]. Those who believe they can continue to stand alone might find themselves as a footnote in history."
