| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the impact of volunteer organizations, stating that "GCSAA [Golf Course Superintendents Association of America] is a strong association because its members are engaged. They volunteer and become involved." Cautions against apathy, stating that "even the strongest association can be weakened and destroyed if apathy is allowed to grow." Encourages GCSAA members to "take full advantage of [the 74th annual International Golf Course Conference and Show's] offerings for...professional benefit." Concludes that "apathy can undermine and destroy many good endeavors. [Members] must all realize that if [they] want and expect GCSAA to continue to move forward, provide education, represent [golf industry] interests in Washington and promote [their] profession, [they] have an obligation to support it not only with...dues but also by [their] actions." |
