Abstract/Contents:Profiles Turf-Type Tall Fescue, stating that "Tall Fescue as a rule is drought tolerant, heat tolerant, shade tolerant and wear resistant." Discusses varieties of Tall Fescue developed at the University of Nebraska turf research facility, stating that "they do not look clumpy. They form a uniform surface...[and] some of the...varieties of tall fescue actually claim to have rhizomes." Describes areas in which tall fescue would be best suited, including no-mow areas. Explains that "it fors a tight community that will decrease weed competition and actually has a nice appearance when allowed to grow tall and flower." Mentions potential disadvantages of tall fescue, stating that "the appearance is not to the level of Kentucky bluegrass yet. In addition it doesn't repair itself as quickly when damaged."
